OUR LANGUAGE LEARNING APPROACH
Our language program builds skills step by step, with each class introducing specific language patterns students can immediately use. Children begin forming simple questions and answers from their very first class, practicing through engaging role-play activities that make learning natural and fun. Each lesson connects to previous ones, allowing students to gradually expand their vocabulary while creating increasingly complex sentences. Our native-speaking teachers focus on proper pronunciation, listening comprehension, and practical speaking skills throughout the learning journey. We've carefully designed our child-centered approach using age-appropriate methods specifically developed for young Spanish language learners, ensuring an enjoyable and effective learning experience.

DETAILS ABOUT THE CLASS: Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy, formerly called Magnus Chess Academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments, a Chesskid Gold membership ($49 value!), and an event with a chess celebrity. All chess supplies provided. DETAILS ABOUT THE CLASS: This vocal coaching class will focus on developing a singer's vocal technique and performance skills. Classes will cover warm-up exercises, breath control, articulation, and projection. Additionally, Dr. Krohn will help singers find their unique vocal style, manage stage presence, and develop a strong foundation in vocal technique. This includes exercises to improve breath support, posture, and register balance (chest, middle, and head voice). This class is taught by Brent's Music and Performing Arts teacher Dr. Joshua Krohn.

During basketball, students will be split into skill-based groups with a focus on positive teamwork, students will practice dribbling, passing, and shooting skills. Each class will end with small, sided scrimmages working on actual game scenarios

This is a preliminary bus schedule for the swing space location. This template may be modified based on actual traffic conditions, enrollment, and operational needs.

Before Care: 7:30am departure → 7:50am arrival
Regular Arrival: 8:00am-8:10am departures → 8:30am-8:40am arrivals

Afternoon Routes:

Regular Dismissal: 3:15pm departure → 3:45pm arrival
Enrichment: 4:30pm departure → 5:00pm arrival
Aftercare: 5:00pm-5:45pm departures → 5:30pm-6:15pm arrivals*

*Late aftercare route may be eliminated if arrival conflicts with program hours.

Important Notice: Registration change periods are designated for students who use bus transportation and cover schedule modifications, withdrawals, or new enrollments. Students enrolling without bus services need to allow 10 business days (when re-enrollment will open September 1) for processing, while withdrawal requests require 30 days' advance notice.

CLS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

Our after-school program is held at Meyer Swing Space - 2501 11th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, from 3:00 PM to 6 PM, Monday- Friday, following DCPS Calendar.

We are working closely with the Brent team to finalize the bus schedule and will update parents as soon as we have all the details confirmed.

Our after-school structure includes snack time (not provided by CLS) outdoor time, a fun activity together such as arts and crafts for Pre-K through 1st grade, or STEM, homework assistance, and indoor activities for the upper grades.

Children are dismissed by their morning teacher to our CLS team, from inside the building or from the playground.

Instructions and further details will be sent to families prior to the first day of school.

WHAT WILL MY CHILD'S SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

Your child can be picked up anytime, either from the playground or through the main entrance.
The first days, coordinators will check IDs.

FAQ

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER PAYING THE DEPOSIT?

Your enrollment process begins with a deposit payment through Procare. Once completed, you'll receive a link to set up your recurring monthly payments, which will run from September 2025 through May 2026. Your initial deposit will be applied to your final month's tuition (June 2026). Completing this step is necessary to secure your enrollment. For more details about all applicable fees, please refer to our Parent Handbook.

HOW ARE MONTHLY FEES CALCULATED?

Tuition is calculated based only on days when school is in session throughout the academic year. This total is divided into ten equal monthly installments, so your payment remains the same each month regardless of how many program days occur in any given month. We do not offer per-day billing or monthly prorations for student absences.

DOES CLS OFFER FINANCIAL AID?

Yes, CLS provides financial assistance for families in need. Please complete this application to be considered for financial aid.
