For nearly two decades, Capitol Language Services (now known as CLS) has been a cornerstone in our community, providing exceptional before and after-school care that parents trust and children love. PROGRAM OPTIONS AND FEES
- Before care: $165/month
- Package of 10 morning drop-ins: $200 (limit one package per school year)
Deposit Requirement: A non-refundable deposit equal to one month's tuition is required to secure your child's spot. This deposit will be applied to the last month of the program.
SCHEDULE
Before care is held inside the school, daily, from 7:15 AM to 8:30 AM
DETAILS
When children come in before their day begins, they can do the following: read independently, have story time, and play educational games with the instructors (such as Legos, Apples to Apples, etc.) CLS instructors transition the children to their daytime teachers

Why Early Enrollment Matters
Early registration allows us to hire and train qualified staff members, develop engaging activities and programs, secure appropriate classroom space, maintain safe student-teacher ratios, and order all necessary materials.
CURRENT HEARST ES FAMILIES
Families who previously attended Hearst ES during the 2024-2025 school year or earlier.
Enrollment prior to July 31
Your child will begin on the first day of school:
- Kindergarten-5th Grade: Monday, August 25
- Pre-K: Thursday, August 28
Enrollment Black Out Period between August 1 to September 1
- No new enrollments will be processed during this period
Enrollment after September 1
- Your child will begin attending 10 business days after enrollment steps are completed
- The exact start date will be confirmed by email
NEW HEARST ES FAMILIES
CLS reserves spots for newly enrolled families accepted by the administration of the school after July 31.
Enrollment prior to July 31
Your child will begin on the first day of school:
- Kindergarten-5th Grade: Monday, August 25
- Pre-K: Thursday, August 28
Enrollment between August 1 to August 25
- Your child will begin on Tuesday, September 2
Enrollment between August 26 to September 1
- No new enrollments will be processed during this period

Complete the student and family registration form on Procare to establish your account. Skip if you already have an account. - Select Your Program
Already have a Procare account? Simply choose your desired program and secure your spot by paying the deposit through Procare. - Set Up Payments
After enrollment, you'll receive an authorization form to establish your convenient recurring payment schedule.
CLS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
Our after-school program is held at Hearst Elementary School from 3:00 PM to 6 PM, Monday- Friday, following DCPS Calendar.
Our after-school structure includes snack time (not provided by CLS) outdoor time, a fun activity together such as arts and crafts for Pre-K through 1st grade, or STEM, homework assistance, and indoor activities for the upper grades.
Children are dismissed by their morning teacher to our CLS team, from inside the building or from the playground.
Instructions and further details will be sent to families prior to the first day of school.

Typical afternoon Pre-K and K
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM Attendance and snack time
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM Outdoor Recess or Enrichment
4:30 PM – 5:45 PM Manual activity and/or indoor games
5:45 PM – 6:00 PM Dismissal
Typical afternoon 1st and up
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM Attendance and snack time
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM Outdoor Recess or Enrichment
4:30 PM – 5:45 PM Homework assistance, STEM/manual activities, or Enrichment
5:45 PM – 6:00 PM Dismissal
Your child can be picked up anytime, either from the playground or through the main entrance.
The first days, coordinators will check IDs.
FAQ
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER PAYING THE DEPOSIT?
Your enrollment process begins with a deposit payment through Procare. Once completed, you'll receive a link to set up your recurring monthly payments, which will run from September 2025 through May 2026. Your initial deposit will be applied to your final month's tuition (June 2026). Completing this step is necessary to secure your enrollment. For more details about all applicable fees, please refer to our Parent Handbook.
HOW ARE MONTHLY FEES CALCULATED?
Tuition is calculated based only on days when school is in session throughout the academic year. This total is divided into ten equal monthly installments, so your payment remains the same each month regardless of how many program days occur in any given month. We do not offer per-day billing or monthly prorations for student absences.
DOES CLS OFFER FINANCIAL AID?
Yes, CLS provides financial assistance for families in need. Please complete this application to be considered for financial aid.
HOW DO I WITHDRAW OR CHANGE MY CHILD'S SCHEDULE?
Need to make changes? We require 30 days' notice for all program adjustments. When you submit one of those two forms within this timeframe, you won't be responsible for payments beyond the notice period.
For withdrawals: Submit this form to dis-enroll from a CLS program.
For schedule changes: Use this form to modify your child's attendance (example: changing from 4 to 3 days weekly).
HOW DO I ACCESS MY STATEMENT/MONTHLY RECEIPTS?
